Comedian Rahul Ramakrishna, who had earlier criticized the police and supported actor Allu Arjun over the stampede incident at Sandhya Theater, has now retracted his statements. He shared this update through his social media account on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter).
Rahul admitted that he had commented on the issue without fully understanding what had transpired and is now withdrawing his earlier remarks after learning the truth. His post has since gone viral.
During the unfortunate stampede incident at Sandhya Theater, where Allu Arjun was present, Rahul Ramakrishna initially expressed his discontent with the police’s handling of the situation. He described the incident as regrettable and highlighted failures in law and order.
Rahul Ramakrishna questioned why adequate precautions weren’t taken, knowing the magnitude of the crowd that would gather for such a high-profile event. He criticized the authorities for allowing such a large group inside simultaneously and called for better planning during public gatherings involving celebrities.
Drawing a parallel, Rahul Ramakrishna remarked that similar stampedes at political rallies sometimes result in casualties but often don’t receive swift action, questioning the police’s prompt response in this case.
He demanded compensation for the victims’ families and urged against blaming a single individual for such incidents.
As the situation escalated, with Allu Arjun’s arrest turning into a broader debate between the film industry and the government, Hyderabad Police Commissioner C.V. Anand released a detailed video explaining the sequence of events.
The video depicted Allu Arjun’s arrival at the theater, his participation in a rally, his presence during the screening, and the subsequent stampede, which led to the tragic death of a woman named Revathi and her son. The Commissioner also clarified the timeline of events and Arjun’s interactions with fans.
Following the police’s explanation, Rahul Ramakrishna issued a clarification, stating that he had spoken earlier without complete information. He acknowledged his mistake and withdrew his comments.
His post has received widespread attention, with social media users praising him for his honesty and for standing by the truth. “Proud of you for taking responsibility,” a netizen commented.
