Cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has sparked controversy among NTR fans after a recent YouTube video thumbnail reignited the debate over the lead role in S.S. Rajamouli’s blockbuster film RRR. The discussion, which has long divided fans of actors Ram Charan and NTR, resurfaced after Ashwin’s imagery in the video appeared to favor one actor over the other.
Following India’s victory against Pakistan in the Champions Trophy league match on Sunday, Ashwin uploaded a video on his YouTube channel. The thumbnail featured an edited image comparing the support players behind their respective team captains. Behind Indian captain Rohit Sharma, Ashwin replaced his own face with that of Ram Charan’s character from RRR, while for the Pakistani player, he used an edited image of NTR’s character. This sparked outrage among NTR fans, who viewed it as offensive.
Ram Charan’s supporters argued that since he was the central lead in RRR, Ashwin’s choice reflected that positioning. However, NTR fans expressed anger over their favorite actor being linked to a Pakistani player, calling it disrespectful. The disagreement quickly escalated on social media, with fans from both sides clashing over the imagery.
While some accused Ashwin of intentionally provoking controversy, others saw it as an unintentional mistake. As online discussions continue to gain traction, it remains to be seen whether Ravichandran Ashwin will address the backlash from NTR’s fans.
