Rajendra Prasad, the iconic comedy hero of Telugu cinema, rose to fame like a rocket, establishing his unique brand of humor. In a recent YouTube interview, he shared key insights into his career journey.
“I was a mischievous boy from a young age. After finishing my studies, I wandered without a job for a while. Then I realized what I truly wanted to do.
Director Vamsi made me a hero with the film Preminchu Pelladu, followed by Ladies Tailor, which became a hit. From that point on, I never looked back. I went on to do 12 films a year, which I consider a blessing from God,” he said.
He continued, “Producers, directors, and writers of that era created unique roles specifically for me. These weren’t typical hero roles but characters drawn from everyday life. Films like Appula Apparao and Pekata Paparao portrayed such relatable characters. Because audiences saw someone like themselves in these roles, they connected with them instantly. My career thrived with small budgets yielding big hits. I believe I could continue acting for so long because audiences considered me one of their own.”
