Sasivadane Movie Review (Amazon Prime)
Released in theaters in October, the film Sasivadane began streaming on Amazon Prime from the 12th of this month. This is a love story that stays close to naturalism, with its rural backdrop being a primary attraction.
The name Rakshith Atluri immediately brings to mind the movie Palasa. Similarly, Komalee Prasad has scored excellent marks in police officer roles. The film Sasivadane features this very duo paired together. Directed by Sai Mohan, this movie hit theaters on October 10th. Now, this very film is streaming on Amazon Prime from the 12th of this month. It is a love story crafted against a rural backdrop.
Plot: Raghav (Rakshith Atluri) is a youth from Godavari Lanka’s village. Having lost his mother in childhood, Raghav is looked after by his easy-going father, Janayya (Sriman). While spending his time playing and roaming with his friend ‘Kittu’, Raghav also completes his degree. Just as he is thinking of going to the city for higher studies, Shashi (Komalee Prasad) enters his life. Raghav loses his heart to her at first sight. She is also from a neighboring village.

Shashi lost her parents early in life and was raised by her grandmother. There is a man who is like an obsessive suitor to Shashi. Addicted to vices, he is stubborn about forcibly marrying her. She is in a state of confusion, unsure how to save herself from his clutches. Raghav’s entry into her life gives her mountain-like strength. She too begins to fall in love with him.
This love affair comes to the knowledge of Shashi’s obsessive suitor. He thinks that to make Shashi his own, he must get rid of Raghav. What does he do for this? What kind of situations does Raghav face because of him? Does Raghav’s desire to marry Shashi come true? Does her suitor’s attempt to separate them succeed? This forms the rest of the story.
Analysis: It’s been a long time since lively love stories… pure love stories… set in village backdrops have appeared on screen. In such a scenario, Sasivadane is a love story that has come to the screen with a modest budget and a very limited set of characters. Did it capture that feel, which is the soul of love stories? One must say yes, it did. The director’s touch with the idea that true love is about enjoying the wait itself is good.
Youth loitering idly in villages without work, the struggles they go through to catch the eye of beautiful girls, their ‘beats’ as they roam their lanes, the girls’ teasing—many such natural scenes flow on screen and keep you connected. Blending comedy, emotion, and action along with the love story, the way it moves forward without letting boredom set in is impressive.
Many movies in the past have proven that a rural backdrop is always a primary strength for love stories. This film makes that point clear once again. The Godavari journey, boats, coconut trees, crop fields—all these have brought more naturalism and beauty to this story. One might feel the villain’s role could have been shown a bit more powerfully.
Sasivadane Movie Review: Performances: The story runs entirely between five characters: the hero, his father, his friend, the heroine, and her suitor. The director must be said to be largely successful in driving this story without letting it feel boring anywhere. You get the feeling of watching a good love story in a village setting after a long time.
The songs by Saravan Vasudevan – Anudeep Dev and the background score have stood out as a special attraction for this film. The cinematography is good; it scores even more points in the picturization of songs. The editing is also okay.
Sasivadane Movie Review: Verdict: This is a simple, straightforward love story set in a rural backdrop with very few characters. However, due to the natural way the story is driven and the method of exploring the rural setting, it doesn’t bore you at any point.
