Kankhajura Web Series Review: Mohit Raina & Roshan Mathew Shine in a Mediocre Plot
Kankhajura Web Series Review
Originally created in Hindi, the web series Kankhajura is a crime thriller starring Roshan Mathew and Mohit Raina in lead roles. Directed by Chandan Arora, the series premiered on SonyLIV on the 30th of this month. Comprising 8 episodes, it is available in Hindi and other regional languages. Let’s dive into the story.

Plot
Max (Mohit Raina), married to Nisha from an affluent family, lives a luxurious life with their only child, Ira. He is the Managing Director of Max Developers, with his childhood friends Shardul and Pedro doubling as his business advisors. Max constantly strives for growth.
Meanwhile, his younger brother Ashu (Roshan Mathew) is released from Goa Central Jail after 14 years. Known for his erratic behavior since childhood, Ashu is warmly welcomed by Max. Hoping to join his brother’s business, Ashu is disappointed when Max refuses. He rents a small room in Shastri Nagar and settles there.
Max plans to launch a new project in Shastri Nagar, but the area is controlled by Desh Mukh Bai, a ruthless local don. Her sons, Surya and Babiya, terrorize the neighborhood, demanding a cut from all businesses. When Ashu learns of this, what does he do? Why was he imprisoned? Who is responsible? These questions drive the narrative.

Kankhajura Web Series Review: Analysis
The story revolves around the wealthy elder brother and the recently released younger brother. The director keeps the audience guessing—What are Max’s true intentions? What is Ashu’s motive? The suspense is maintained well, keeping viewers engaged.
While the dynamic between the brothers is intriguing, some scenes feel predictable and lack intensity. Desh Mukh Bai’s villainy initially propels the plot but later fizzles out, leaving disappointment. The brotherly confrontations also fail to bring anything fresh to the table.
Kankhajura Web Series Review: Execution
The title Kankhajura (referring to a scorpion) and the chaotic trailer suggested a gripping narrative, but the series falls short. The screenplay feels ordinary, and the climax doesn’t deliver the expected punch. Most characters come and go without leaving a strong impact.
Mohit Raina and Roshan Mathew deliver compelling performances, while the rest of the cast performs adequately. The production values are decent, with Rajeev Ravi’s cinematography and background score being serviceable.

Kankhajura Web Series Review: Verdict
Despite an intriguing title and trailer, Kankhajura fails to meet expectations. The storytelling remains average, though crime thriller enthusiasts may give it a one-time watch.
