Itlu Mee Yedava Movie Review: Love on a 30-Day Trial

“Itlu Mee Yedava,” now streaming on ETV Win, is a Telugu family drama centered on love, parental approval, and responsibility. The film follows Sri, a persistent student, who must win over his girlfriend’s skeptical father within 30 days. While the premise holds promise, the execution falters with a predictable narrative and underdeveloped comedic elements, resulting in a largely formulaic watch.

Itlu Mee Yedava Movie Review: A Formulaic Take on Love and Family

In recent times, young directors have shown enthusiasm in presenting fresh concepts right from the title, aiming to connect instantly with youth and mass audiences. “Itlu Mee Yedava” (streaming on ETV Win from today) appears in that list of attempts. Directed by Thrinath Katari and featuring Trinath, this film, which released in theatres last year, revolves around love and family emotions.

Plot:
Sri (Trinath) is a middle-class youth persistently pursuing his PG in a Machilipatnam college, much to the irritation of his goldsmith father, Krishna (Goparaju Ramana). Into this scenario enters Manaswini (Sahithi), the daughter of a bank manager, Sai (Devi Prasad). Sri and Manaswini meet in college, and their acquaintance blossoms into love.

Upon learning this, a furious Sai outright refuses to let his daughter marry Sri. Dr. Bharani (Thanikella Bharani) intervenes and suggests a compromise: Sri must spend a month with Sai. If Sai is still unimpressed afterwards, Sri will walk away. Manaswini agrees, and Sri accepts the challenge. The rest of the story explores what unfolds during these 30 days and whether Sai changes his mind.

Analysis:
The story pivots on a father’s natural anxiety over his daughter’s choice of partner and a common paternal wish to see her with a responsible man. The premise—what a father does when his daughter is determined to marry a seemingly aimless fellow—has potential.

The director, weaving the tale around two families in a town, attempts to blend love with family sentiments. While his core message is clear, the scenes constructed around this main theme feel weak. The neglect of the comedy required for this genre is a noticeable drawback.

The plot is engaging up to the point where the father decides to test the boy. However, the subsequent scenarios lack excitement, progressing in a straightforward and eventually tedious manner. The casting for the lead roles also doesn’t feel entirely apt.

Performance & Technical Aspects:
Given the title “Itlu Mee Yedava” (These Are Your Deeds), one might expect a certain range of ‘deeds’ from the hero, but the film fails to unveil scenes of that impact. The designed situations aren’t very effective.

The romantic track, too, lacks deeply emotional scenes, moving forward with rather generic twists. Technically, Jagadeesh’s cinematography, R.P. Patnaik’s music, and Uddhav’s editing are merely functional and don’t leave a mark.

Verdict: Itlu Mee Yedava Movie Review
The film begins with the hero’s question: Must one have a job, money, or status to deserve love? The answer hinted at is that while you don’t need these to fall in love, you certainly need them to sustain and provide for it.

Had the story run more decisively in that direction, it might have been more compelling. The director takes it on a different path. Due to a lack of necessary narrative exercise, “Itlu Mee Yedava” can be described as largely formulaic content.
