‘Identity’ Thrills Audiences, Malayalam Industry Begins Year with a Hit
The Malayalam film industry had an excellent run last year, delivering several successful movies. Many low-budget films also managed to collect impressive box office returns. This year, the industry started its journey on a positive note with its first hit—’Identity’.
Starring Tovino Thomas, Trisha, and Vinay Rai in key roles, the film was directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan. ‘Identity’ is an investigative thriller that was released on January 2nd.
With music composed by Jakes Bejoy, Tovino Thomas plays the role of an NSG commando. Made on a budget of ₹12 crores, the movie is reportedly earning strong revenues at the box office.
The story revolves around a character named Amar, who runs a clothing store. He secretly records videos of women visiting his shop. When he is caught, locals burn down his store along with him. This incident drastically changes the atmosphere in the area, affecting the lives of Harun, Alisha, and Allen.
How this event impacts their lives forms the crux of the story. It remains to be seen how well the film performs in the long run.
